The approach

CIRM operates on the following principles:

  • robust cross-agency research and development partnerships achieve consensus and influence
  • integration of social, biophysical and economic research disciplines, intersecting with policy and management objectives, makes sense
  • research and collaborative investment that is timely and efficient minimises transaction costs
  • trust among partners delivers access to powerful communication networks relevant to NRM
  • meaningful, practical and documented outcomes for users should always be the final objective.

Working with us

We create joint initiatives with a range of industry, government and research institutions to develop practical solutions for natural resource management (NRM) issues in the tropics and subtropics of Australia while encouraging international links.

These alliances include other national science investors including Land and Water Australia, non-government organisations and statutory authorities.
