Recent achievements include:
Achieving native vegetation sustainability: a platform for investment
- analyses priority needs for sustainable native vegetation management
in Queensland
- has led to targeted national investment in further research
- expert panels have been created to review our existing knowledge and
future policy needs for vegetation management
Sustainable NRM in the peri-urban zone of South East Queensland
(SEQ): a new and critical need
- recognises the need to understand what is happening in the transitional
zone between urban and rural areas in fast-growing SEQ
- will reveal what R&D needs exist and identify knowledge gaps
- has the commitment of key NRM organisations with an interest in the
region
Improving graduate employability skills
- provides options for building employability skills
- recognises the need for work integrated learning
Water quality issues in the Great Barrier Reef
(GBR) catchments: analysis of science gaps
- reviews water quality R&D in the GBR
- identifies key gaps about impacts of water quality
- uses Reef Water Quality Protection plan as a framework
Social and community dimensions of NRM: a six point strategy
- recognises that people and processes are intrinsic to integrated Natural Resource Management (NRM)
- gives a detailed plan to guide policy planning and R&D investment in the social dimension of NRM
- is a major influencer of social and community research within NRM funding decisions in Queensland

received concentrated attention from CIRM, including:

- salinity risk assessment
